AP Submission

This week is submission week. I have finally uploaded my breath, concentration, and I just finished matting my quality. It made me happy to see all of my work finally coming together and finally being able to present my concentration that I have become so attached to, but this also means the end of me (forseeable) photography career, which is extremely bittersweet.

Artist Talk

Last week I presented my concentration in the Sikes. Beforehand, I was worried about being able to vocalize my idea, as its extremely conceptual and is easier to comprehend in writing. However, the talk went better than I expected and the feedback was reassuring. The gallery opening was a success, and I received the first place prize for photography. I in no way thought my project would even place, so it gave me such a gratifying feeling that the project that has so much importance to me, and that I have become attached to has truly made me confident in my work.

Senior Show

This week I am installing my senior show in the gallery. I plan on making my photos into a grid based on the color schemes of the photos, while making sure the same person does not appear next to themselves. I plan on adding some plant orbs or vines to represent the ethereal aspect of my project, along with glass/mirror shards to contrast them and represent the more industrial aspects of my project.

Final Concentration Plan

With my concentration presentation only a week away, I have finally finalized my plans for my concentration. I will be doing two pics for 6 people to fulfill the 12 photo requirement. 1. Kiki (completed) 2. Lawren (completed) 3. Cameron (need shadow) 4. Yama (need both) 5. Justice (need both/maybe just shadow) 6. Marcus (need both)

Concentration statement #1

1. What is the central idea of your concentration? -  For my project, I shot portraits of a variety of young black adults, from the perspective of a young black adult. My central idea was to convey the struggle that black youth faces, growing up in a society that has a disfigured view of them. I used natural techniques (reflection, shadow, and light) to portray the difficulty that comes with reflecting stereotypes and projections that are forced upon us a society, living in the shadow of others due simply because of our race, and also feeling the pressure to be the one that changes this paradigm for future generations. This project is not meant to be a political

Film Probs

Well, this week I rolled and developed and processed my film. All was going great, I was confident in my idea and rolling went great, until my roll of film got exposed. However, its not thaaaat exposed so I'm still going to use it bc thats show biz. I really like the dance photos I took so I'm going to try my best to salvage them. sydni out.

Concentration Critique

This past week I have considered all of the critiques I received from the class, as well as incorporated some of my newer ideas in an attempt to make my project more interesting and more connected to me. I decided that the mirrors were getting repetitive so I am either going to shoot 4 people and do 1 reflection photo, 1 shadow photo, and 1 light photo, or I am going to shoot 6 people and do 1 reflection photo and 1 shadow photo.
