Text/Film Project

For the film/text project I have a few ideas that I may pursue. Because this is one of our, if not our last project, besides the concentration, I want to push myself personally and as a photographer. 1. Shoot myself and my feelings, such as a personal documentary, and scribe my experience and emotions that day as a sort of physical, vulnerable diary. 2. Choose an album that has a personal connection to me and photograph my emotion/ connection to each song and scribe the title of the song on the photograph. 3. Same as number two but write how the song affects each person emotionally and highlight how we search for personal connections in the lyrics we hear and how that affects our view and message of the song we hear. 4. Shoot random people and get blurbs about how they feel that way, but a deep, emotional account. 5. Shoot people I know and ask them to write something about themselves that they have never told anyone/ something people don't really know about them, whether...

Concentration Update

Over the next few weeks, I hope to finish the majority of the shooting needed for my AP concentration. I decided to shoot 6 different models and split my project into 2 components: the first 6 images being the broken mirror portraits. The second set of photos will be environmental portraits of the same 6 people in their personal spaces in which they believe they are most accepted, most themselves, and most safe. I also hope to finalize my models and get a better range, to make it as inclusive and intersectional as possible in the realm of age, skin tone, gender, etc. Below is my general plan. 1. Kiki: Broken Mirror, Tennis Courts/Music (?) 2. Lawren: Broken Mirror, Room/Music/Photo 3. Cameron: Broken Mirror, Weight Room (?) 4. Alana: Broken Mirror, Dance/Stage 5. Mariah: Broken Mirror, Racing (?) 6. (To be determined): Do I include a younger boy or a much older boy?

Breadth Update

Image
This week, I presented my breadth to the class, and got critique as to what photos I should remove from the project in order to get it down to the required 12 photos. I turned two of the pictures into a diptych (the following to pictures) then deleted a few of my museum pictures and a few of my portraits. I still plan on shooting over the next few weeks/months, and if I make any work that I feel can compete with some of my best, I will add it.

New York and Breadth Update

Image
This past weekend we went to New York and I saw a multitude of artwork ranging from local artists in small Chelsea galleries, to renowned artworks in famous museums. Throughout the trip, I took photos that have now become the forefront of my breadth and are some of my favorite photos I have taken thus far, below are some of the photos from the trip:

Breadth Update

For the final breadth update, I decided to go through all of my works since freshman year, as I felt as though I had pictures missing from projects I had done over the years. Although I do plan to shoot photos over the next month or so that better represent the photographer/artist that I am now, I also found many pictures from past projects and trips that I represent my growth as a photographer. Attached below are a few photos that I found during my last search, that have been added to my new powerpoint.
