Domestic Project Idea

Image
For my blog, I'm deciding between doing: 1) a domestic scene about gender roles and how our generation has gone against the "Cult of Domesticity" that ruled and depicted what home life meant for multiple decades. The pictures above are ones that I found quite compelling out of the list of photographers and the ones I felt best connected to what I hoped to convey through my series: the importance of the woman as a foundation and nurturer of the family setting. 2) I am also considering doing the autobiographical project, as it is something I have never done, and I hope to challenge myself this year as an artist and as a photographer. If I choose this path, I hope to incorporate some lighting and exposure techniques that we have learned in the past.

Another Idea

Image
Oh, hey. Another idea, for some of my supplemental photos I want to wrap them behind some of the plant orbs that I'm going to hang on my installation. Pics below.

IDEA!!

So I was doing some thinking, and I recently came up with my idea for my installation :) I want to arrange my photos in a circular/swirl fashion and hang fake vines, plant orbs, wood structures, lights, and flowers throughout the installation to highlight the ethereal vibe I hope to present throughout this concentration. I really want to highlight the natural beauty of the subjects I'm shooting, and whats more beautiful and natural than nature :) I looked up a picture on Pinterest that somewhat depicts what I want for my setup and I will link the photo below :)

2: Concentration Update

Image
hey y'all. I have done some thinking since the last concentration, and I have decided to photograph black youth as a social commentary as to what black youth culture looks like from the perspective of black youth. I'm shooting the whole series through fragmented glass to symbolically show society's "fragmented view" of what our culture means. Over fall break I plan to shoot 3 more people, but for now I'm sorting through pictures and finding exactly what vibe, and aesthetic, I want present throughout the project. I also shot some supplemental photos that I will attach below :)

breadth update

Image
This week we each reviewed our breadths, so that we can cut them down and hopefully get to our ideal number of 12 photos. Upon reviewing mine, I hope to get more photos this year that are representative of me as both an artist and a person, and a greater variety of styles (film, physically manipulated, etc.). I was able to get my portfolio down to 15, but I think I still have some more deciding to do, and I need to go through all of my projects from freshman year to this year. Attached is a photo from my breadth :)

Irma Project

Image
During our week off for Irma, I evacuated to Atlanta to both get away from the storm, and to visit my sister at college. Because the storm didn't really effect the area I evacuated to, I photographed the damage I saw on the road trip back to Jacksonville. Below is an example picture.
